Visiting Professor : In Bound Program Studi Kebijakan Pendidikan FIP UNY

The Educational Policy Study Program, Faculty of Education, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (FIP UNY), successfully organized the Visiting Professor: Inbound Program of Educational Policy Study Program FIP UNY from April 14 to 16, 2026. The event featured Prof. Dr. Vishalache Balakrishnan from Universiti Malaya, who shared global perspectives on contemporary educational issues.

The three-day program was attended by undergraduate and graduate students of the Educational Policy Study Program. On the first day, the speaker delivered a lecture on Education for Human Flourishing and discussed the development of moral education in Malaysia from 1982 to 2026. The session emphasized the importance of education that goes beyond academic achievement, focusing also on character building and holistic human well-being.

On the second day, the topic Transformation in Education Starts with You encouraged participants to reflect on the role of individuals in driving educational change. The program also featured an interactive podcast session addressing social issues in education within the contexts of Malaysia and Indonesia. This session facilitated cross-national dialogue on shared challenges and opportunities in the education sector.

The third day focused on Service Learning, highlighting a comparative analysis between its implementation in Malaysia and Indonesia. Participants gained insights into how service learning can effectively integrate theory and practice while contributing to meaningful social impact.

In addition to academic sessions, the program included strategic discussions on potential research collaborations and academic publications. The Educational Policy Study Program FIP UNY and the visiting professor explored opportunities for joint research and the publication of articles and books indexed in Scopus and ISI, aiming to strengthen international academic contributions.

This program is expected to broaden participants’ global perspectives, expand academic networks, and enhance the quality of research and publications in the field of educational policy.
